Story Of Rinjani

The people of Lombok believe that the peak of Mt. Rinjani is where DewiAnjani, the Queen Spirit and Ruler of Mt. Rinjaniresides. To the southeast from the peak, there is a dusty and barren area called “SegaraMuncar”. This is reportedly the invisible palace of the queen DewiAnjani and her followers, the good spirits. According to an ancient Lombok legend, DewiAnjani was the daughter of a king who would not allow her  to marry her boyfriend.  At a spring on Lombok called Mandala, she disappeared and mysteriously transitioned from the real world to the spirit world.

Mount Barujari

 Mount Barujari is a child of Rinjani mountain in SegaraAnaklake. According to residents` beliefs, mount Barujari is the navel of mount Rinjani. Some people believe that Mount Barujari erupted because the ghost (Jinn) who were there and were making something. This can be seen from the rocks neatly arranged around the foot of Mount Barujari.

SegaraAnak Lake

 Every year about two times, Balinese Hindus perform ceremonies at SegaraAnak Lake, while Sasak residents can do it repeatedly. SegaraAnaklake is believed to give a warning. Residents believe that if you see the lake looks wide, you will have a long life, and vice versa. The myth is that anyone who bathes and swims in the lake must know himself and have no bad intentions to avoid trouble from the lake watchers.

Hot Springs

 The hot springs on the slopes of mount Rinjani are said to have supernatural powers. In addition to being use by climbers to relieve fatigue, magic people usually test the ability of kris and weapon in the hot springs. For the residents of Gumi Sasak, this bathing place is believed to be the bathing place for Adipati SurabayaRaden Mas Jayanegara, who is said to be one of the puppet characters in Lombok.

Gua Susu

GuaSusu is approximately 1 km from segaraAnaklake by following the trekking route via Torean. In GuaSusu, there is hot water and from the stalactites there are drops of water that are said to taste like milk, sometimes different. Gua in English is cave and Susu in English is milk. This place is often used for group worship and meditation seeking supernatural abilities. The myth is that the mouth of the guasusu is believed to be wider when a good person enters it and narrow when someone enter it with evil intentions.

BungaSandarNyawa (Eddelweiss Flower)

All mountain climbers certainly know this eternal flower whose latin name AnaphalisJavanica. According to the beliefs of local residents of mount Rinjani, this plant is a plant in Taman Sari from the ghost kingdom in the supernatural.

To get this flower, ancient people had to dare to put their lives down. That`s why this flower is called the Life Sandar Flower. The myth is that is the flower never withers and has a lifespan similar to that of supernatural beings.
